Welcome to Religious Education at WUUC. The Children and Youth Religious Education leadership views spirituality as an integral part of a child’s exploration and discovery. We strive to create an environment that nurtures that discovery through story, art, music, games and sharing. We honor various learning styles and build our sacred time together with thoughtful consideration for each child’s differences and a goal of creating a community of shared values. We want our children and youth to experience the sacred in our community and world and understand what spirituality and worship mean to them as individuals and to us as a Unitarian Universalist faith.
Throughout the year children will engage in worship together, led by junior worship associates, build community, participate in Social Justice activities, and meet in age groups to learn about Unitarian Universalist values and heritage.
On most Sundays, children 4 years – 6th grade begin in the sanctuary with their family and then leave for class after a Time for All Ages. For a calendar of the year’s events and more information on the programming, please pick up the brochure in the church foyer or download a copy here. [Check back for the brochure link!]
We invite you to visit us first for up to 3 Sundays so you can determine if we are a fit for your spiritual needs. After that we ask that you register your children and youth for the program. This form may be picked up in the church foyer or downloaded here. [Registration form]
The WUUC Nursery strives to be a warm, welcoming, and safe place for children. While their parents/caregivers attend the worship service, the nursery is open to care for children aged 6 months through three years, for the current academic year (beginning in September). In the nursery, your children will be invited to join in the opening Friendship Circle of songs and activities, to play with other children under the supervision of the nursery caregivers, and to join the closing circle. The nursery opens at 9:45 am. Children of visitors are welcome.
We look forward to meeting you and your family. If you have questions, please contact Carrie Krause, Director of Lifelong Learning, dll@wuuc.org or 425-788-6044.
